The FBI confirmed that gunman Aaron Alexis had legitimate access to the Navy Yard as a result of his work as a contractor and he utilized a valid pass to gain entry.
During a press briefing, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus gave an update on the three victims brought to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Two are Navy employees and the third is a Metropolitan police officer. None of the injuries are expected to be life threatening.
A shooter opened fire at the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard on Monday morning, killing 12 people. The gunman is dead and has been identified as 34-year-old Aaron Alexis from Fort Worth, Texas.
