Martin's attorney, David Cornwell, issued a statement Thursday night, explaining that "beyond the well-publicized voice mail with its racial epithet, Jonathan endured a malicious physical attack on him by a teammate, and daily vulgar comments."
The bullying controversy surrounding the Miami Dolphins has now deepened, as the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that two coaches instructed offensive lineman Richie Incognito to "toughen up" fellow lineman Jonathan Martin. Martin left the team last week in response to threatening and reportedly racist text messages sent by Incognito, who was then indefinitely suspended by the team.
