Embattled Attorney General Eric Holder is attempting to smooth things over with press, as the calls for his resignation grow louder on Capitol Hill. Holder extended an invitation to news executives at several media outlets for an off-the-record meeting. Fox News, AP, New York Times, Huffington Post, and others have declined to attend, balking at the fact that their reporters would not be allowed to cover the discussion.
Fox News will not attend a DOJ meeting with Attorney General Eric Holder if it is "off the record," said Exec. Vice President Michael Clemente. The invitation was extended to outlets to partake in a conversation on Holder's department's surveillance of reporters.
