As we move toward the one-year anniversary of the 9/11/12 Benghazi attack, ABC's George Stephanopoulos sat down with State Department whistleblower Gregory Hicks, who once again called out the Obama administration for its handling of the terror attack that killed four Americans.
Attorney Joe DiGenova, who represents one of the Benghazi whistleblowers, told a Washington radio station that the CIA was running missiles through Libya, and a number of those weapons were stolen.
The White House has praised former diplomat Thomas Pickering's work on the State Departments ARB report into the Benghazi attack, saying he and former Joint Chiefs chairman Mike Mullen are "of unimpeachable expertise and credibility." Critics, however, have questioned whether the ARB report is really a full account of what took place in Benghazi, pointing out that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was never even interviewed.
"Mr. Pickering didn't have investigative experience and it showed," said attorney Victoria Toensing, who spoke with Steve Doocy on Fox and Friends this morning. Toensing was deputy attorney general under Ronald Reagan and is representing Benghazi whistleblower Gregory Hicks.
President Obama went after Republicans for creating a political "sideshow" by continuing to accuse his administration of intentionally altering the Benghazi talking points in order to remove references to terrorism.
Obama argued that he was talking about terrorism in the days after the attack and acknowledged it was an act of terrorism the next day.
On Huckabee, we heard from Pat Smith, mother of slain Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, who died along with three other Americans in Benghazi last Sept. 11. She has said before on Fox that her son told her he was worried about the lack of security in Benghazi shortly before the attack happened. In an emotional interview, she said she is still waiting for answers or some sort of explanation for her son's death.
Some are calling him a patsy, others say he's a political prisoner. But the man behind an anti-Islam YouTube video that sparked fierce protests across the Muslim world remains in jail on a probation violation. Nakoula Basseley Nakoula became even more famous when the Obama administration falsely stated that the Benghazi attack resulted from a protest over the video.
Earlier today, we learned about a bombshell report that said the CIA's Benghazi talking points were changed 12 times, with extensive input from the State Department. It comes after State Department whistleblower Gregory Hicks testified Wednesday that he was shocked when he saw Susan Rice blame a protest on numerous Sunday shows on the weekend after the terror attack.
Bernie Goldberg had some harsh words when asked by Bill O'Reilly what he thought of the mainstream media's coverage, or lack thereof, of Wednesday's Benghazi whistleblower hearing on Capitol Hill.
In his Talking Points Memo last night, Bill O'Reilly took on the media, and "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, for downplaying the Benghazi hearings and criticizing Fox News for its coverage. Stewart cited other attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities from 2001 to 2008 in the Bush administration, saying there was no Republican outrage over those incidents and only three hearings in those years on embassy security.
Was yesterday's Benghazi whistleblower hearing covered fairly in the mainstream media? Megyn Kelly discussed the question with Dan Gainor, vice president of Media Research Council, after many outlets downplayed the significance of the testimony, and described it as a political event.
At the Benghazi whistleblower hearings yesterday, one of the biggest revelations was that Ambassador Chris Stevens was brought to a hospital that was controlled by Ansar Al-Shariah, the terror group that was later blamed for carrying out the assault on the U.S. Consulate.
On Fox and Friends this morning, Steve Doocy asked Judge Andrew Napolitano what will happen next following the Benghazi whistleblowers' testimony on Capitol Hill. Could the scandal lead to possible perjury charges against Hillary Clinton for her previous testimony on Capitol Hill? Is there any scenario that could lead to impeachment against President Obama?
