Rush Limbaugh is a big supporter of President Trump's proposed plan to release immigrant detainees into sanctuary cities.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed to "Fox News Sunday" that Trump's prospective plan is undergoing a "complete and thorough review," days after Democrats who have fought to protect illegal immigrants from federal authorities characterized the possible move as a dangerous stunt.

Democrats, Sanders asserted, have no plan on immigration other than to "fight the president" as he attempts to address the ongoing border crisis.

"What he’s doing here is pushing the country to reexamine the subject of illegal immigration and the laws that are surrounding it that are not being enforced!" Limbaugh said on his show Monday.

He said that Trump's plan would highlight both the "utter lawlessness" of sanctuary cities and the "hypocrisy" of the leaders behind those policies.

"Why are so many people -- Democrats, leftists -- insistent that illegal immigrants be permitted?" Limbaugh asked.

"Why have sanctuary cities sprung up? Sanctuary cities have sprung up to encourage even more illegal immigration and then to promise to shield the illegals who want it from being found and deported. Why would anybody do this?"
