Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy said some of his Democratic colleagues side were outraged over Attorney General William Barr's four-page summary of the Mueller report.

"When Bill Barr issued a summary, you would've thought, according to some of my Democratic friends, it was a second coming of the apocalypse," he said. "What do you think would've happened if he didn't submit a summary?"

Kennedy said he believes that some at the FBI during the 2016 election "surveilled both the Trump campaign and Clinton campaign."

"It's clear to me that there were a handful of people at the FBI... who acted on their political beliefs," he said. "They need to be gone.... They need to be fired and if necessary, prosecuted."

Kennedy said that there are a "handful of bubbleheads" within the bureaucracy who think they are "smarter and more virtuous than the American people."

In regard to whether he trusts Congress with a full, unredacted copy of the Mueller report, Kennedy said, "this place leaks like the Titanic."
