Fox Business Network anchor Dagen McDowell ripped President Donald Trump for again criticizing the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) this week.

"It was horrible what [McCain] did with repeal and replace," Trump said, referring to the senator's 'thumbs-down' vote to repeal ObamaCare. "I'm not a fan of John McCain and that's fine."

Trump told Maria Bartiromo on Friday that he only wades into the controversy because "you people [in the press] bring it up."

McDowell said she'd had enough of Trump trashing McCain, and called out Trump supporters who remain silent while the late senator is being disparaged.

"Silence is accepting the unacceptable when it comes from anybody," she said.

"I will... say that this attack on Senator McCain -- given the fact he's dead and his family's in mourning -- is petty, it's mean and it's appalling."

Trump drew a fierce backlash with a tweet Sunday in which he labeled McCain "last in his class" in the Navy and then continued his criticism in a speech in Ohio on Wednesday.

Juan Williams added that some, like Trump, see the late McCain as still the standard bearer of "establishment Republican politics."

McDowell said that, as someone whose mother is battling cancer as McCain had been, "if someone pulled this nonsense in my hometown... I'd be stabbing their tires every night to make sure they couldn't even get out of the driveway."
