In an interview on Fox Nation, Daily Caller White House correspondent Saagar Enjeti responded to an attack from CNN's Jim Acosta.

Acosta accused Enjeti of asking President Trump "softball" questions during a press conference with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro Tuesday.

"He teed it up like a game of tee ball," Acosta said of one of Enjeti's questions about Democrats and socialism.

"Abilio was just upset because he didn't get chosen by the president," David Webb said, referring to Acosta by his full name.

Enjeti said Acosta's criticism was a "very common response" from members of the mainstream media.

He said that he's experienced cases in the past where people like Acosta will bash him for asking a question, only to have a network like CNN use the clip to show Enjeti "made news."

"I'm not going to take journalistic cues from people who have asked President Obama about, their quote, 'best-week-ever.'"

"I'll stick to the old journalistic adage of trying to get some actual news," Enjeti said.

He also pointed back to CNN's Jeff Zeleny, then with the New York Times, asking Barack Obama in 2009 about what had "enchanted" him most about his first 100 days as president.
