The third season of Fox News Channel's "Scandalous" recently returned with an in-depth look at the sexual assault trial of William Kennedy Smith.

The three-part-long historical documentary spotlights the chance 1991 encounter at a Palm Beach, Florida nightspot between the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy and a local woman from Jupiter, Florida.

The accusation by 29-year-old Patricia Bowman would ultimately lead to a heavily scrutinized rape trial, one of the first nationally-televised trials in which millions of Americans tuned in to watch the dramatic proceedings.

"Scandalous: The Trial of William Kennedy Smith" takes an extensive look at the rape allegation and revisits the 10-day trial.

In episode 2, "The Most Famous Woman Never Seen," the trial starts and reporters from around the world converge on West Palm Beach as millions of viewers tune into the televised court case.
