Watters on AOC's Reported Warning to Moderate Dems: 'Be Careful What You Wish For'
Jesse Watters said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's reported warning to her moderate colleagues could signal a looming "catastrophe" for the Democratic Party.
After more than two dozen moderate Democrats broke from their party's progressive wing and sided with Republicans on a legislative amendment Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) reportedly sounded the alarm in a closed-door meeting Thursday and said those Democrats were "putting themselves on a list."
Ocasio-Cortez reportedly said she would help progressive activists unseat those moderates in their districts in the 2020 elections.
On "Fox & Friends" Friday, Watters, co-host of "The Five" and host of "Watters' World," joked that he's going to get some popcorn and watch the "civil war" in the Democratic Party unfold.
He said this is similar what happened years ago for Republicans with the Tea Party, except with insurgent progressive Democrats.
Ainsley Earhardt wondered if strong-arming lawmakers in more moderate districts into voting for far-left, socialist policies could backfire for Democrats.
"That's where the energy is, but the people that are smart, that want to win elections have to vote with their constituents," Watters said. "That's what happened with Steve Bannon. Remember, he tried to primary all these moderate Republicans, and we wound up losing Alabama. So, be careful what you wish for."
