Tomi Lahren joined Steve Doocy on "Fox & Friends" Thursday to preview the new episode of Fox Nation's "No Interruption," which investigates the murder of an American man in a popular tourist destination in Mexico.

In November 2018, 27-year-old Taylor Meyer was found stabbed to death in a park near the famed beaches of Playa del Carmen. He was visiting the resort town with friends to celebrate a birthday.

There were conflicting reports from the Mexican media about how and why he was killed, so Tomi spoke to his family to find out what really happened.

"Witnesses saw three people attack him," his father, Kris Meyer, said. "They stabbed him, took his wallet, his iPhone, his watch and his shoes."

He said he wants to get his son's story out, so that people are aware that Mexico is a dangerous place.

He noted that Mexico currently has a travel advisory level of 2 from the U.S. State Department, suggesting it's as safe for American travelers as countries like France, Italy and Germany.

"And it's not," Meyer said. "There's nothing I can do or we can do to bring Taylor back. ... What we don't want is other parents or other family or loved ones to be lost down there."

Tomi said this story is close to her heart because she met Taylor before he traveled to Mexico, and she was "horrified" to see "fake stories" misreporting the details of his murder.

"Publications were running stories that he was a Canadian, that he lived in Mexico, that he was there and it was a drug deal gone wrong, he was there with an LGBT group. And none of this was true," Tomi said.

She said Taylor's family believes Mexico and the country's tourism industry have a vested interest in keeping stories of Americans murdered there "under wraps."

Tomi said the Fox Nation special will debunk many of the claims about Taylor's murder and give a full timeline of what happened.

"We're really trying to get the word out: Mexico is not safe," Tomi said. "If it can happen to a 27-year-old, fit guy from Southern California, it can happen to you, it could happen to your son, your daughter. I really encourage everyone to watch this and watch this story because it's so important, especially going into spring break season."
