Donald Trump Jr. blasted congressional Democrats Monday for setting up a hearing with Michael Cohen on the same day as President Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

While the second face-to-face summit is going on Wednesday in Hanoi, Vietnam, Trump's former attorney and fixer will testify publicly before the House Oversight and Reform Committee. Cohen will testify the following day behind closed doors in the House Intelligence Committee.

The president's son told "Fox & Friends" that Trump is trying to "deal with a major world issue" while Democrats seek to "distract" the public.

"[They're] bringing in a convicted felon and known liar. It's pretty pathetic, but it really shows you how much the Democrats hate Trump. They hate Trump more than they love America, by a long shot, and it's pretty disgusting that they would do that," he said.

Trump Jr. said he's "sick of watching the experts" who have never achieved a breakthrough with North Korea repeatedly criticize the administration's current approach.

"I go, 'Wait a minute, in 60 years, you guys never even got a meeting. You never even got in the room with the boss.' He's done that in under two years," he said of his father's strategy.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told "Fox News Sunday" that the administration will abandon what he called the Obama administration's policy of "praying" and "cowering" before the rogue regime.

Pompeo said he was hoping for a "substantive step forward," though he cautioned, "it may not happen." He acknowledged some progress had stalled when it comes to North Korea surrendering weapons.
