Sen. Marsha Blackburn said on Reality Check with David Webb on Fox Nation that her state of Tennessee will be one of many that would be greatly hurt by the Green New Deal, if the progressive proposal is implemented.

Blackburn said that the deal, chiefly sponsored by Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is "a socialist agenda if there ever was one."

She said the deal would decimate Tennessee's working class and gave several examples.

"FedEx would no longer exist," she said, adding that it is "one of the largest employers in the state."

Blackburn said that, to that effect, the technology "doesn't even exist" that would allow for the end of the use of fossil fuels in a decade, as the plan would direct.

"Cattle farming would no longer exist," she added.

Blackburn said that the key oil refinery in Memphis would be shuttered and those employed there would be laid off under the Green New Deal.

Webb and Blackburn also discussed the state of the 2020 Democratic presidential field.
