'It's Not the Route to Go, Don't Fall for It': Venezuelans Warn Against Moving US Toward Socialism
Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips attended a Venezuelan Freedom rally in Washington, D.C., where those in attendance warned against moving the United States toward socialism.
Earlier this week at his State of the Union address, President Trump rebuked the Democratic Party for embracing far-left policies.
"America was founded on liberty and independence and not government coercion, domination and control. We are born free and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a Socialist country," he said to Republican applause, with Democrats declining to applaud.
Phillips joined "Fox & Friends" Friday to report on what Venezuelan expatriates had to say, with their country in the midst of a crisis after an economic collapse.
"Look in the mirror of Venezuela and Cuba. You do not ever want [anything] close to socialism to come to this country," one man said.
A woman at the event noted how many Venezuelans are eating trash in the streets, while another man warned Americans "don't fall for it."
