Mark Morgan, the head of the U.S. Border Patrol under President Obama, said on "Maria Bartiromo's Insiders" on Fox Nation that Speaker Nancy Pelosi was not relying on facts when she claimed a border wall is "immoral" and ineffective.

Morgan said that he looks at the current border security debate with "pure frustration."

He said that back in 2006, both Republicans and Democrats supported the Secure Fence Act, which funded 654 miles of border wall, fencing or other partition.

Morgan said it is "just not reality" to claim that a border wall does not work or is immoral.

"Operationally, it works," he said, adding that in Pelosi's own state of California, there are multiple "layers" of partition in places near San Diego.

He and Bartiromo discussed how large populations straddle the border in both countries at that point, but that they still are able to live in relative peace.

Morgan said that outside the San Ysidro-San Diego area, there are other urban areas that have "thrived again because of the wall as part of a multi-layered strategy."
