Michael Moore Calls for 'Human Wall' Around White House if Trump Declares Nat'l Emergency
Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore said if President Trump declares a national emergency to get funding for his long-promised border wall, Americans should "non-violently rise up" and form a "human wall" around the White House.
Appearing on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on Thursday, Moore weighed in on the ongoing partial government shutdown, which has left hundreds of thousands of federal employees without paychecks.
“This guy doesn't want the government to be open, he certainly doesn't want the Department of Justice to be open,” Moore said. “So if he tries to pull a national emergency, we the people have to declare a national emergency. We have to non-violently rise up. We have to take to the streets. We have to form, we have to build our own wall -- a human wall -- around the White House.”
"Peacefully, peacefully," Colbert reiterated as the audience cheered.
"Peacefully, non-violent, non-violent," Moore agreed. "Nothing will stop a bully unless you stand up to the bully in the school yard. That's the only way."
"Nothing screams 'in touch' like a Hollywood millionaire elitist talking about things ... gun control, capitalism and now immigration," Dan Bongino said on "Fox & Friends" Friday morning. "He's completely out of touch."
Bongino, a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent, said that some Democrats are starting to accept the idea that the wall is not "immoral," as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has claimed.
"Nancy Pelosi is increasingly isolated here," Bongino argued, saying that Trump is a dealmaker who's shown a willingness to negotiate and compromise.
He noted that some Democrats, like House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), have signaled that they are open to a border barrier, particularly in exchange for protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients.
"You can't question the fact that [Trump] is now trying to compromise while Pelosi's been calcified," Bongino said.
