Conservatives are enjoying a renewed moment in American politics after the election of President Donald Trump in 2016.

But it wasn’t always that way. In William F. Buckley’s famed words: "A conservative ... stands athwart history, yelling 'STOP' at a time when no one is inclined to do so."

Now available on-demand on Fox Nation, "The Conservatives: Rough Cut," looks back on the interviews over the years with the major players in the conservative movement, who told their tales of the lessons learned throughout the political turmoil of the 20th century.

Hated and marginalized by the left and the mainstream media, stalwart conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, Pat Buchanan, Pat Robertson, Dick Cheney, John McCain, Phyllis Schlafly, Thomas Sowell, Robert Bork and many more tell their powerful stories.

"[I'm] more conservative than I am Republican," Limbaugh said in an interview now available for Fox Nation members, explaining how he came to be a conservative growing up in Missouri.

The national radio host recalled being nine years old during the Kennedy-Nixon presidential election and paying close attention to the race.

"The natural spirit of the human being is freedom. That's the yearning that we have to be free. Conservatism is simply freedom," Limbaugh described, adding that, in contrast, liberalism "draws its power from dependency."
