Fox Nation host Stuart Varney was highly critical Tuesday of remarks made by Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in which she predicted the world would cease to exist in a few years if climate change isn't addressed.

Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) made the remarks at a Martin Luther King Day event on Monday, and said that climate change is a "generational" issue that younger people are focused on.

Varney, who also hosts Varney & Co. on the Fox Business Network, said on his Fox Nation-exclusive "My Take" that the freshman congresswoman's "scares" won't work in garnering more support.

"Voters are not buying these catastrophic predictions," he said. "Let's face it, we've heard this before. Many, many years ago and still, no end of the world."

Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic Socialist, also said that the fight against climate change is "our World War II."

Varney said that he isn't debating climate change, but simply suggesting that "constant scares" by politicians are counterproductive.

"Mind-boggling environmental rules frustrate many voters who might otherwise be sympathetic," he said.
