Spicer said much of the media is afflicted with TDS, and have "made it a very personal attack" in their ongoing "vitriol" directed at President Donald Trump.
He slammed critics' "level of minutiae and detail" in which they attack Trump.
Spicer pointed out that while Trump is often blasted for calling some in the media "the enemy of the people" and the like, there is no circumspection "the other way."
He told Webb that it appears since they were wrong about Hillary Clinton in 2016, they feel "we have to take [Trump] down."
"It's amazing, the stuff they pick on," he said.
Spicer also reacted to CNN analyst Areva Martin, who accused Webb of holding "white privilege." During her radio interview with Webb, it appeared she was unaware he was black.
"I hate to break it to you, but you should have been better prepped. I'm black," Webb told Martin.
Spicer said that it is unbelievable that some in the left-wing make purported privilege based on racial identity "the immediate attack out against somebody."

He said that if a Republican or conservative mistook the race of an ideological opponent, there "would be widespread calls for resignation and apology."
