Monday's panel on "The Five" discussed newly elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's policy proposals after the New Yorker suggested a 70 percent tax hike for the wealthy.

The framework of Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal would aim at expanding energy sources to meet all of the country's power demand through renewable sources.

Fox News contributor Emily Compagno said that it's time for Ocasio-Cortez to get to work and cease from pushing "outlandish" policies.

"Her time to be popular is over," she said. "It would only help her further and further her cause and the people that could rally behind [her]."

Compagno said that Ocasio-Cortez needs to work on being more specific and accurate in her congressional goals.

The congresswoman expanded on her tax proposal during a CBS interview, in which she said taxpayers should contribute "their fair share."

"It means that as you climb up this ladder, you should be contributing more," she told Anderson Cooper.

Jesse Watters also said Ocasio-Cortez's political ascent reminds him of a rookie athlete not contributing to his or her team.

"They had a great college career, now they got drafted. Top draft pick," he said. "Giving the opposite, opposing teams a lot of bulletin board material, kind of bad with chemistry in the locker room. A lot of the vets on the team don't really like her that much."
