'The Wall Is Non-Negotiable': Gorka on Trump's Main Objectives in 2019
Dr. Sebastian Gorka said President Trump's top objectives in 2019 should be to make it clear that the border wall is "non-negotiable" and to ensure his administration is staffed with individuals committed to the Make America Great Again agenda.
Appearing on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday, Gorka, a Fox News national security strategist and former deputy assistant to the president, sounded off on the border funding battle, which has led to a partial government shutdown that now has stretched on for 11 days.
"He has to make it clear that the wall is non-negotiable, despite the fact that now the lunatics will take over the asylum in the House," Gorka said, explaining that Trump will not get wall funding from a Democrat-controlled House.
"So he needs to continue to reprogram money from the defense budget because this is now a national security issue," Gorka said.
He said Trump's second major objective in 2019 should be to embrace the saying "personnel is policy."
"We’ve had people leave the White House. We’ve had people from the cabinet move on. He needs to create more MAGA-driven people inside the building. He has to have people who are loyal to the MAGA agenda – the Make America Great Again agenda – come into the building to support him," Gorka said.
He said that with more people like Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, the Trump agenda can "survive the next two years of insanity in Congress."
"As the president has said repeatedly, he’s not going anywhere. He’s going to be there for another six years, so we need to take a deep breath. We need to be more circumspect with what's possible and what isn't with a Democrat-controlled Congress – or, at least, the House of Representatives," Gorka said. "But, no, he will never give up on America. He'll never go soft on his promises."
