Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk slammed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's push for the creation of “Green New Deal” legislation, which would eliminate much of the United States’ fossil-fuel consumption.

In a draft resolution to create a House select committee that would be responsible for writing the legislation, Ocasio-Cortez outlined the primary goals of her plan, including eliminating fossil-fuel-powered electricity and closing coal and natural gas power plants by 2030.

“This is going to be the New Deal, the Great Society, the moon shot, the civil-rights movement of our generation,” Ocasio-Cortez said Monday at a town hall led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

On "Fox & Friends" Tuesday, Kirk noted that he and Ocasio-Cortez have frequently gone back and forth on social media, as they have two very different visions of what America should be and what policies young Americans should support.

"Either embracing radical socialist ideas or re-embracing free enterprise, constitutional, limited government ideas," Kirk explained.

He argued that Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal would cost trillions of dollars, destroy the fossil fuel industry and eliminate hundreds of thousands of jobs.

"With Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she's constantly wrong, but never in doubt," Kirk said.

He added that this proposed legislation may be popular with wealthy Democratic donors on the coasts, but it will further disenfranchise Middle America and hurt the Democratic Party.

"She's definitely catering to the elites in Malibu or Manhattan, but she's going to lose Missouri, Indiana and the middle part of the country talking about eliminating hundreds of thousands of jobs, raising utility costs and spending trillions of dollars we don't have."
