A Good Year for Socialists: Charlie Kirk's Top 3 Winners & Losers of 2018
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk appeared Wednesday on "Fox & Friends" to break down the biggest political winners and losers of the year.
Among Kirk's three "winners" was senior Trump adviser Jared Kushner, whose recent prison reform bill was approved by Congress earlier this month.
"It was Jared who worked tirelessly for months to get it to the House and eventually the Senate," Kirk said, adding that he was an integral part of the president's trade deal with Canada and Mexico.
Socialists were also crowned -- reluctantly -- as winners by Kirk, who touted their increasing progress.
"Socialists today are in more power in more state Houses and in U.S. Congress than they were a year ago," he said, citing the "disproportionate" amount of media attention for incoming Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
Finally, President Trump rounded out Kirk's list of winners of the year 2018. Kirk praised Trump for surviving "tireless" attacks by those on the left and improving the economy.
Conversely, there were three losers of the year on Kirk's list: "the Democrat mob," anti-Trump Republicans and European globalists.
Kirk criticized Democrats for their treatment of then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and their use of "intimidation tactics" through his confirmation process.
He also slammed Republicans like Sens. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.), and Gov. John Kasich (Ohio) for their destabilization efforts toward Trump.
"Now they just go off into the sunset, not being senators and governors any longer," Kirk said. "There's very little oxygen left for anti-Trump [conservatives] but Republicans, they had a very, very bad year and they have less ground today than when they started the year."
He also said that British Prime Minister Theresa May, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel all have similar governing styles, and put the European Union above the needs of their own country.
"You kind of see internal rebellion happening in all three of those beautiful countries," Kirk said. "You see them in a lot of trouble."
