GOOD NEWS WATCH: Rick Reichmuth Gives $70G From Weatherman Umbrella Sales to Folds of Honor
On "Fox & Friends" Monday, Fox News meteorologist Rick Reichmuth presented a $70,000 check to Folds of Honor, a non-profit that provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.
The money was raised by Reichmuth's company, Weatherman, which manufactures high-quality umbrellas.
Weatherman offered a limited edition Folds of Honor umbrella, and pledged to donate $5 to the charity for every one sold.
Reichmuth presented the check to Folds of Honor founder Major Dan Rooney (Ret.) and Ashlyn McCain, a scholarship recipient and daughter of a fallen soldier.
"Folds of Honor gives a check to the school to help pay for tuition, room and board, books, anything to help us come out debt-free," McCain explained. "And if it wasn't for them, I definitely probably wouldn't be going to college."
Rooney, who founded Folds of Honor nearly 11 years ago, said there is a "beautiful irony" in life -- when you reach out to help someone, you are the one who is being helped.
"In this world that seems more isolated every day, to look at Ashlyn and think about all the support that people give Folds of Honor, it is a blessing. And we all rise together," Rooney said.
Reichmuth said Folds of Honor does incredible work helping the families of those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
"It's a huge honor to be able to support you guys," Reichmuth said, revealing that Weatherman will donate $5 to Folds of Honor for every umbrella sold on Cyber Monday or Giving Tuesday.
