On "Fox & Friends" Monday morning, Dan Bongino slammed Sen. Amy Klobuchar for claiming President Trump has “gut-punched” Congress in its efforts to legislate fixes to America’s immigration system.

Klobuchar (D-Minn.) offered the criticism on ABC’s “This Week“ on Sunday, accusing President Trump of "weaponizing" and "politicizing" the crisis at the border.

"We have the will to put the money at the border for better security and combine it with some sensible reforms," Klobuchar said. "But he has chosen instead to weaponize this, to politicize it. And I just think it's wrong for our economy, and it's also wrong for our work with the rest of the world."

Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and NYPD officer, said Klobuchar is being misleading by claiming Trump has been unwilling to negotiate with Democrats on immigration reform.

He pointed out that there was a deal on the table that would have provided a fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) -- which provides a level of amnesty to certain undocumented immigrants, many of whom came to the U.S. as children -- in exchange for border wall funding.

"Amy Klobuchar going on a national television program and claiming that deal never happened and that Republicans have no solutions on immigration ... that's a lie!" Bongino said. "Amy Klobuchar just made that up. And if you believe it, you're a fool."

He said Democrats like Klobuchar are the ones who are unwilling to negotiate on immigration, because they don't want Trump to achieve a policy victory.

"They are obsessed with taking this president down. It's disgusting."
