White House counselor Kellyanne Conway praised how President Trump handled his "60 Minutes" interview Monday on Fox & Friends.

Lesley Stahl pressed Trump on the media, his relationship with Kim Jong Un and the Mueller probe during the contentious interview, which aired Sunday night.

The president was "very respectful" during the discussion, Conway said, and added that Trump doesn't "fear the media."

"He knows it was an excellent interview. ... This is the most transparent, accountable president perhaps we've ever seen," she said.

Sunday night's interview became heated at times, particularly when Stahl brought up Trump's relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He acknowledged his belief that the Kremlin meddled in the 2016 election, but added that the "bigger problem" is that he believes China did too.

"[Trump] doesn't fear the media. He uses the media as a platform, one of many platforms, by which to communicate his message," Conway added.

Earlier on "Fox & Friends," former NYPD officer Dan Bongino said that Stahl's interviews are consistently "designed to advance a liberal narrative."

He called the interview "epic television" and praised how Trump repelled Stahl's contentious questioning.

"This is why people like Donald Trump. It's not rudeness or brashness, it's that Donald Trump doesn't succumb to this media pressure to be weak and he fights right back," Bongino said.
