Author and attorney Ann Coulter said Monday on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that her new book, "Resistance is Futile: How the Trump-Hating Left Lost Its Collective Mind," shows that the political left will go to any length to attack Trump and his supporters by extension.

"It's more that they really do hate 'deplorables,'" she said, referring to Hillary Clinton's description of many Trump supporters in 2016.

"They hate the Walmart crowd," she said.

Coulter said that the left will attack Trump and praise his critics -- even if the Democrats had hated some of those critics before the election.

She used the example of ex-FBI Director Jim Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan as people the left once held in contempt but now hold in high regard.

"Their hatred of Trump has caused them to lose all reason. My governor (Andrew Cuomo) says America wasn't ever great. If that's what [Trump] is driving them to, that's what their base... wants," Coulter said.

Tucker Carlson agreed that the left, along with many in the media, "hates... the middle class" even though it's the "group that is doing most poorly" in society.

"Trump has totally corroded their own standards," he said.
