Shapiro: Dems Hoping Trump-Cohen Tapes Are the Scandal That 'Torpedoes' Trump's Presidency
Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro reacted to the release of a tape that disclosed a conversation between President Trump and his former counsel Michael Cohen.
Shapiro discussed any legal danger Trump may be in after the release of a taped conversation between the then-mogul and Cohen regarding a planned payment that involved Playboy model Karen McDougal and tabloid executive David Pecker.
He said that former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards (D) had a similar issue which ended with a hung jury legal case, adding that Democrats hope this incident is the situation that torpedoes the presidency.
Shapiro said said the announcement by Trump and European Union head Jean-Claude Juncker at the White House Wednesday appears to show that the "trade war" with Europe has been "averted."
Trump said officials are looking to reduce "bureaucratic obstacles," work toward reform of the World Trade Organization, and limit unfair market practices.
Trump made the announcement alongside European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker at a press conference in the Rose Garden after more than two hours of talks at the White House. Juncker said that as long as negotiations are ongoing, "we will hold off on further tariffs and reassess existing tariffs on steel and aluminum."
"It sounds like the Europeans are making some relatively moderate to minor concessions," he said.
Martha MacCallum added that the announcement that the EU will import more American Liquid Natural Gas is "terrible news" for Russia.
