A man suspected of attacking his wife with a chainsaw was deported 11 times. Democrats, are you sure the whole sanctuary city thing is the best idea?

It’s time for Final Thoughts.

Meet Alejandro Alvarez Villegas.

He is an illegal immigrant who allegedly attacked his wife with a chainsaw in their Whittier, California home last week - in front of their three children. He then fled the scene in a stolen car.

It’s worth noting again, you heard that right earlier: The man was deported 11 times since 2005.

And no, this is not his first offense. In fact, published reports say Alvarez pleaded no contest in 2013 to unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and one count of using or being under the influence of a controlled substance. Later that year, he reportedly pleaded no contest to driving with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher.

So you may ask yourself: Why was this man still roaming the streets of California? Perhaps that’s the question we should be asking Governor Jerry Brown, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Kamala Harris, Rep. Ted Lieu and the rest of our so-called California leaders - leaders who advocate for the very sanctuary city policy that allows men like Villegas to hide in plain sight.

And it’s not just this case. Who could forget the tragic death of Kate Steinle in San Francisco - shot to death in 2015 by an illegal immigrant who had been deported five times. In fact, according to a 2015 report by the Migration Policy Institute, it is estimated roughly 820,000 unauthorized immigrants in the United States are convicted criminals – 300,000 of those felons.

Californians, Americans, reasonable citizens who value safety and security: Is this what you want? Protections and barriers that restrict local law enforcement from sharing valuable information with immigration officers - making it possible for criminal immigrants to disappear into the shadows, and continue committing crimes?

Heck, some Democrats want to take it a step further, and abolish ICE altogether. It’s lunacy. It’s this brazen disdain and disregard for the rule of law that breeds crime in our communities.

At some point we have to take a step back and ask ourselves, how many more incidents like this are we willing to tolerate? Are we willing to place illegal immigrants above American citizens, and the rule of law?

It’s easy to preach compassion for “dreamers” looking for a better life. But where are the Democrats when things like his happen? Silent.

Let’s be clear: Most illegal immigrants are not criminals. But the truth is, if we don’t know who is coming here, staying here, living here, we have no way of knowing how many are criminals.

This is bigger than a partisan debate over the Dreamers, or a wall. This is about safety for Americans. As we move closer to November mid-terms, I hope you remember which leaders are willing to place the comfort of illegal immigrants over the safety and security of you and your family.

Those are my Final Thoughts. From the sanctuary city of LA, God Bless and take care.
