FL Mom's Story of Trump Tax Cut Benefits Gets Standing Ovation at White House
President Trump celebrated the six-month anniversary of passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on Friday and highlighted stories of how the act has positively affected everyday Americans.
Lasonya Hill, who works for Crowley Maritime in Jacksonville, Florida, said that she and other employees received a bonus they weren't expecting because of the tax reform.
Her story was met with a standing ovation from the crowd at the White House.
Hill said that she plans on using her bonus to invest in her sons' college education.
"We're excited as a middle-class family who was able to benefit so much from this opportunity," she said Saturday on "Fox & Friends."
She also said that she tries to "stay away from the hate" that President Trump receives.
"Nobody's ever going to see eye-to-eye," she said. "I think the people have to realize that it's OK to have a difference of opinion."
Trump's $1.5 trillion tax overhaul was signed last December. It reduced the rates for five of the seven tax brackets and lowered the corporate tax rate from 35 to 21 percent.
