Judge Jeanine Pirro urged Republicans to take President Trump's advice and stop trying to pass an immigration reform bill, while questioning why the left is outraged over migrant family separations that also occurred under the Obama administration.

Trump tweeted Friday morning that any bill is bound to fail in the Senate due to "obstructionist" Democrats, so Republicans should hold off on immigration until they pick up more seats in the Senate in November's midterm elections.

On "Fox & Friends," Pirro said Republicans need to shift their focus from immigration -- which has dominated headlines in recent days amid the migrant family separation crisis -- because that's not a winning message heading into midterms.

She had a recommendation for GOP lawmakers: "Get behind the president, and get out of his way if you can’t support him."

"The economy's doing well. Our safety and security is great. Everything is fine in this country right now, and they’re going to throw this immigration thing," Pirro said. "Get this off the table and move forward."

She ripped the media coverage of the separation of migrant children from their parents, arguing the same policies occurred under Barack Obama, but the outcry was not the same.

"Why is it more horrible under Trump than it was under Obama? There is nothing new about this," she said.

"We have people coming here who think they’re entitled to come here on an individual basis. It’s like me saying, 'I want John Jones to come to your house. I want you to feed him, clothe him, bathe him, educate them and give them cash.' No!" Pirro argued, recalling that she used preside over proceedings to naturalize American citizens when she was a New York judge.

"We are not a nation that has open borders. You come to this country if you’re invited to this country, if you apply like everyone else."
