Dan Bongino said Monday that John Brennan's ominous weekend message on Twitter showed that the former CIA director is "panicking."

Brennan was responding to President Trump's tweet that he'd demand the Justice Department investigate whether the agency itself or the FBI probed his 2016 campaign for "political purposes."

Brennan said that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan would "bear major responsibility" if they continued to "enable" Trump’s "self-serving actions."

"John Brennan has disgraced himself, he's disgraced the country [and] he's disgraced the intelligence community," said Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and current NRA TV contributor.

"He is the one man largely responsible for the destruction of Americans' faith in the intelligence community."

Bongino added that he believes Brennan is the "genesis" behind the entire investigation into the president.

Brennan is no stranger to criticizing Trump. He blasted the president in March over his apparent coziness with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Bongino said that Brennan is panicking because he's worried about his reputation and about "felonious criminal leaks".
