Graham: 'Stunning' for Comey Not to Know Who Funded Trump-Russia Dossier
'You should know where the damn thing comes from.'
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) blasted the way the Russia investigation has been handled compared to how the Hillary Clinton email probe was investigated by the FBI.
Graham said it was "stunning" that former FBI director James Comey told Bret Baier last week that he did not know that the dossier used to obtain a surveillance warrant against former Trump adviser Carter Page was paid for by the Democratic party.
"We're talking about providing a document to a court to get a warrant on an American citizen. You should know where the damn thing comes from," Graham said.
The president called out Comey during a rally in Michigan over the weekend, saying he was dishonest about his actions in the run-up of the Mueller probe.
Trump called Comey, as he has in the past, "a liar and a leaker" and said he did the country a "great favor" by firing him. In response, Comey said that he had "serious doubts" about President Trump's credibility.
Graham said the FBI's handling of Hillary Clinton email investigation was a "joke" and involved an agent who later turned out to be anti-Trump.
"[The Clinton email server] was never given over. They beat it with a hammer and bleached it out and nobody went to jail. ... They had their thumb on the scale for her," Graham said on "Outnumbered."
Kennedy added that if Comey did not know that former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were compromised in one direction toward a Democratic presidential candidate, "that also speaks to his emotional incompetence."
"He would have been fired by either administration," she said.
