'Can We Stop Being Such Jerks?': Ex-Clinton Staffer's Warning to Fellow Liberals

Judge Nap: It Does Not Appear James Comey Broke the Law With Memo Leak

In an interview with "Special Report" anchor Bret Baier, former FBI Director James Comey responded to claims by President Donald Trump that he is a "leaker and a liar."

"Comey is a leaker and he's a liar. He's been leaking for years," Trump said on "Fox & Friends."

The president also claimed that Comey committed an "illegal act" by passing information to Columbia Prof. Daniel Richman to share with the media.

"He's just wrong," Comey told Baier. "Facts really do matter."

Comey said the memo he gave to Richman was unclassified at the time.

"It's in my book. The FBI cleared that book," Comey said, calling Trump's statement "false."

Comey said he didn't consider his transfer of the memo about his meeting with Trump to Richman to be "a leak" as many critics have maintained.

He said the document was "personal" and "like a diary."

Comey also discussed his decision to reopen the Clinton email probe very close to the 2016 election, after suspect emails had been found on the computer of former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-Brooklyn).

Baier also pressed Comey on details surrounding his decision to recommend against charging Clinton with a crime in the controversy surrounding her email server.
