A veteran whose Marine Corps flag was stolen from outside his North Carolina home says the thief deserves a "good, ol' beating."

Ace Beam, 72, served in the Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967. He proudly flies several flags in his front yard, including Old Glory and a Marine Corps flag.

Last week, however, Beam said someone stole the Marine Corps flag, and he didn't mince words with what he thinks should happen to the offender.

"They talk about the slap on the wrist. You ever heard that?" Beam told a local station. "Well, I just want to slap them upside the head. That's what they deserve: a good, ol' beating."

Beam said he plans to order a new Marine Corps flag for his front yard, along with other military flags to add to the display.

"I just want the public to recognize this country and the guys that served this country,” Beam said.
