'Americans Will See Through All of This': Tomi Lahren Takes on Possible Shutdown

With a government shutdown looming Friday night, Kellyanne Conway placed the blame on Democrats, who she said were "on the wrong side of history" just like they were with tax reform.

Senate Democrats have said any short-term spending bill to keep the government open must include a fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects from deportation some illegal immigrants brought to the country as children.

Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, pointed out on "Hannity" that DACA doesn't expire until March, so Democrats were forcing an unnecessary government shutdown that could have a negative impact on everyday Americans, including delayed paychecks.

"They're against veterans and children, our Border Patrol agents, our firefighters. They're against the Pentagon when our secretary of defense says military readiness is in peril," Conway said.

She pointed out that some Democrats voted "yes" on the spending bill, because they don't want to go down with the "sinking ship” as their party moves further to the left.

"You see some of those red-state Democrats peeling off from their leadership and saying they can support this bill," Conway said.

She said the majority of Senate Democrats, however, were committed to resisting and obstructing the president at any cost, and the American people see it.

"They know this is the 'paycheck president,' Donald Trump, versus folks who are so petty about DACA before the deadline is even upon us that they would deny people their paychecks," Conway said.
