Former Dem 2016 Candidate: Let 'Obsessed' Trump Build Wall If It Saves DACA

On "Fox & Friends," conservative commentator Lawrence Jones debated a campaign surrogate of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) over border security and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy.

"The American people sent this president [to Washington] to do a job," Jones told Chuck Rocha.

Rocha asked Jones why President Trump would risk a government shutdown over maintaining his mission to build a wall along the southern border.

Rocha said DACA recipients are subject to background checks and that several are serving in the military or are working as educators.

Jones said people like Rocha must "get with the program, because the president won the election on this [issue]."

He echoed Trump in saying that wall funding must be allocated or there is no possibility for legal status for DREAMers.

"The American people will not tolerate the president going along with a plan that does not include border security," he said.
