'He Lost His Mind': Trump Hits Back After Bannon Calls Russia Meeting 'Treasonous'

Scaramucci: Author's Claim That Trump Didn't Want to Win Election Is 'Nonsense'

Sebastian Gorka, former deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, said a controversial new book about the first months of the Trump White House is full of "inaccuracies and lies."

In "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," which is scheduled to be released on January 5, author Michael Wolff writes that former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon slammed Donald Jr., Trump's son-in Jared Kushner and campaign chairman Paul Manafort for their “treasonous” and “unpatriotic” meeting with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign.

Trump responded on Wednesday with a blistering statement, saying that Bannon "lost his mind," and the Trump legal team on Thursday sent a letter to Wolff and his publisher demanding they immediately stop the book's publication.

On "Fox & Friends" Thursday morning, Gorka cast doubt on many of the claims in Wolff's book, calling him a "hack" and a "sleazebag."

"I was asked to talk to him in the White House when he floated around the West Wing, and I refused to talk to this guy," Gorka said, adding that he remains loyal to Trump and only Bannon can confirm or deny if he made the critical statements about the president and his team.

He said that excerpts of Wolff's book published in New York Magazine are "full of inaccuracies and lies."

"The fact that the president was supposedly unaware of who John Boehner is? It's bogus. The president is a vacuum cleaner of information," Gorka said. "The idea that he doesn't read stuff? Again, in his office when I first met him in New York, he had stacks of pieces of paper that weren't there for decoration. It's because he was reading them. This guy is a hack."

He said the reality is that Trump had a wildly successful first year in office, and he will continue pushing his Make America Great Again agenda in 2018.

“The people who will buy into this book are the people who hate the president already," Gorka said.
