President Donald Trump held a video conference with several members of the U.S. military stationed abroad over Christmas.

From his Mar-A-Lago property in Florida, Trump invited the media to be part of the call for a short time.

He thanked each division and credited them with continuing to protect the homeland.

Trump applauded one military unit that had taken out a combined 700 ISIS and Taliban targets throughout 5 countries during the current war on terrorism.

He also mentioned a Coast Guard port security unit stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Trump said the unit was heavily involved in the disaster recovery and relief efforts in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, telling the Coast Guard they are doing an "incredible job."

"It's almost unbelievable how many lives were saved by the U.S. Coast Guard," he said.

"I'm grateful for each one of you [for] spending time away from your families," he told the group. "I'm asking God to watch over you and watch over your families."
