Tomi Lahren's Final Thoughts: Make America Work Again
'Welfare is meant to be a second chance, not a way of life.'
Tomi Lahren says President Donald Trump is right that the U.S. desperately needs welfare reform...
Let’s break from the daily pervy man update to offer my Final Thoughts on something we should all care about: American jobs.
And actually, just closing that book on pervy men, it was Democrat Bill Clinton who reminded us back in the 90s of two very important lessons:
One, the best anti-poverty measure is still a job. And two: Welfare is meant to be a second chance, not a way of life.
Yes, it’s true, the Democratic Party used to be somewhat reasonable. Boy, what a difference from the modern-day Democratic position of “free stuff for everyone.”
Well, sorry, our country doesn’t operate like that. Maybe under Crazy Bernie Sanders. But not with Donald J. Trump.
The president this week hit the nail on the head - once again - when he pointed out our nation’s desperate need for welfare reform. He's right. It’s ridiculous some Americans have to work their butts off to make a living, while others sit back and suck off the system. It’s wrong, and fundamentally un-American.
So why does it happen? Well, look no further than your favorite Democrats.
See, here’s the play: Democrats want to give poorer Americans just enough of a handout to keep them coming back to the voting booth, because government dependence is a sure-fire way to maintain power. But here’s the thing about entitlement recipients: Some of these people, they don’t want to work. Work means making enough to lose the welfare goodies.
That’s how sick and wrong our system is. Work your butt off and struggle. But sit back, do nothing, have more kids, and watch the handouts grow. That’s not the American Dream. The American Dream isn’t rob hardworking Peter to pay lazy Paul.
Maybe that’s what separates Conservatives from Democrats. See, Conservatives, we want you to get a hand up. Not a hand out. We want you to reach your potential and provide for yourself because dammit, it feels good to be a productive member of society.
The Democrats don’t think you can do it. They pat you on the back and say “poor you ... you’re a victim. You’re entitled to what others earn.”
That’s not compassion. That’s condescension. And it's BS.
The government can give you a lot, but it can’t give you self-worth. The welfare system is meant to be a safety net, not a hammock for the system-suckers. Entitlements are supposed to be for the sickest, weakest and most vulnerable among us. If we keep letting the welfare abusers suck us dry, we won’t have any resources left for those who truly need it.
So let’s heed the advice of President Trump and yes, President Bill Clinton: Make America work again. Your Obamaphones just turned into alarm clocks. So get up, and get to work.
Those are my Final Thoughts.
From LA, God bless and take care.
