Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said the child tax credit provision he wants to add to the Senate tax proposal is not intended to torpedo the bill.

Laura Ingraham said some have billed the idea as the "Rubio-Schumer Amendment."

Rubio said his plan is simply a tax credit to help working families that are looking for more deductions on their tax forms.

"All this says is you're gonna get to keep more of your own money, that's what the amendment does."

He added that his idea to lower the corporate tax rate to 22 percent rather than 20 or 15 is a small difference in revenue for the government.

"This makes our tax reform more pro-worker which is where we need to be as a country," he said.
