Today is #GivingTuesday, an annual day of charitable giving that falls on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

On "Fox & Friends" this morning, country music singer Jennifer Nettles championed a great cause: World Vision.

World Vision is a global Christian humanitarian organization that partners with children, families and their communities to help them reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

"What you can do on this Giving Tuesday is you can go online and you can gift someone either a donkey or an alpaca or a sheep in their honor, in their name," Nettles explained. "If you want to give something that actually has meaning and gives life and sustainability to other people in other countries who are in need, get online and check it out."

She explained that animals can provide nutrition and income, which can drastically change people's lives.

Nettles said that World Vision also sends "care kits" around the world to help those struggling with poverty and disease, recovering from natural disasters or escaping violence.

The kits contain essentials like toiletries, soap and school supplies.

She noted that any gifts to World Vision on Giving Tuesday will be matched with a donation from Thirty-One Gifts, up to $1 million.

"You give two times just by giving once!" Nettles said.
