Tucker Carlson reported that two million illegal immigrants were given work permits in the United States.

He debated political commentator Wendy Osefo on the merits of decision.

"Why would they get this?" he asked.

Osefo said the permits aren't irrevocable and that the idea make sense economically.

She said that illegal immigrant workers put more money into the system than they take out, pointing to social security taxes.

"When I was a kid, the left cared about workers... Now every liberal I talked to [says] it's good for the [businesses'] bottom lines," Carlson said.

He added that emphasis has been put on improving the American education system to make graduates more competitive in the workplace.

"Why would you improve schools if you just import the talent?" he said.
