Tucker: UC MAGA Hat Confrontation Proves Education System is Broken

Ben Stein: Price Was Really Ousted Over Health Care Failure

Mark Steyn reacted to an idea Tucker Carlson explained in his monologue - that those who attack historical figures and other American standards as "racist" are condemning everything "older than the milk in your fridge."

"This is like Year Zero in Cambodia," Steyn said. "The world has been created anew."

When the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia in 1975, it resulted in mass death and de-industrialization, and the new leadership deemed that everything older than their rule was irrelevant.

Steyn said that recent attacks on the Confederate flag escalated to protests of the American flag by football players and some on the left, just as attacks on Gen. Robert E. Lee escalated to attacks on Dr. Seuss.

"It is incredibly moronic," he said. "Part of the dumbing down of American society... argues that the "Cat in the Hat's" bow tie is an evocation of 19th Century racist minstrel shows."

Steyn said the thought was ludicrous, pointing out that Porky Pig, Huckleberry Hound and Yogi Bear's sidekick Boo-Boo, all wore allegedly racist bow ties in that case.

"We are making ourselves as a society too stupid to survive," Steyn said, calling the education system the biggest structural defect in the country.

"If everything is racist, nothing is racist," he said, calling attacks on American institutions "cultural totalitarianism."
