John Kerry: Trump's UN Speech 'Makes America Last'
Former Secretary of State John Kerry said President Trump's "America first" message to the United Nations in fact "makes America last."
The purpose of the president of the United States' speech to the UN is to "sell America's policy," Kerry explained.
Instead, he said, Trump managed to put "America last or diplomacy last," leaving America "alone."
Trump addressed the United Nations this week, sending a no-nonsense message on deescalating North Korea's nuclear program. The president also stressed that every country must do its part both militarily and financially to support the international community.
"You don't give a speech at the United Nations to talk to your base," Kerry said, calling the address "childish."
"If name-calling was going to solve this problem, Donald Trump would have already solved the problem," Kerry said, referencing Trump calling North Korean leader Kim Jong Un "Rocket Man."
