A huge, bench-clearing brawl broke out between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees during a game Thursday at Comerica Park.

After New York's designated hitter Gary Sanchez was hit with a pitch in the fifth inning, Yankees pitcher Tommy Kahnle was ejected the next inning for throwing at Tigers superstar Miguel Cabrera.

As Cabrera stepped back into the batter's box, he began having words with Yankees catcher Austin Romine.

After Romine stood and removed his mask, Cabrera shoved him and threw a couple punches.

They wrestled each other to the ground, and all-out pandemonium ensued.

Both benches quickly emptied, with some players trying to separate their teammates and others pushing and throwing punches.

Sanchez appeared to land a hard punch on Cabrera as he was pinned down on the bottom of the pile:

Players came onto the field again in the seventh and eighth innings, although no punches were thrown.

Overall, the chaos led to six ejections, including Cabrera and Romine. Suspensions are possibly coming for some of the participants.
