Pete Hegseth said President Trump is making it clear to rogue nation North Korea that this is a "put up or shut up" moment.

"This is a guy who understands tough talk is what is needed right now," Hegseth said on "Outnumbered."

The president said military plans against North Korea are "locked and loaded" if the country "acts unwisely." North Korea will be met with "fire and fury like the world has never seen," Trump stated. Later he told reporters that statement may not even be tough enough.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said a war with North Korea would be "catastrophic," but he also warned that the dictatorship's statements are a “threat to the world’s community.”

The "credible threat of military force" is necessary to deal with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Hegseth said.

After years of diplomacy, "now we are under threat from out own shore," the host continued, adding that North Korea could in the future blackmail the United States if the country is not checked.
