Limbaugh: 'Wimpism' Has Taken Over the Washington Establishment

After Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) claimed that President Donald Trump has "excessive expectations" about how quickly Congress could pass legislation, Trump has been firing back.

"Part of the reason I think people feel like we’re underperforming is because too many artificial deadlines - unrelated to the reality of the complexity of legislating - may not have been fully understood," McConnell said on Monday.

In several tweets, Trump expressed his frustration that Congress has been unable to agree on a plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare, urging McConnell to "get back to work."

When he was asked by reporters Thursday if McConnell should step down from his leadership position, Trump said, "If he doesn't get repeal and replace done, and he doesn't get taxes done and ... infrastructure ... then you can ask me that question."

On "Fox & Friends" this morning, Geraldo Rivera said Trump has every right to be frustrated with McConnell.

"There’s two Mitch McConnells," Rivera said. "There’s Mitch McConnell the politician. That's the guy who managed to keep open the Supreme Court vacancy so Gorsuch could be nominated and put onto the bench onto the high court by the president of the United States. So McConnell was brilliant as a politician. As a lawmaker, though, he stinks."

Rivera took particular issue with how McConnell criticized Trump for setting "too many artificial deadlines" for the repeal and replace of ObamaCare.

"It was in McConnell’s court for seven-and-a-half years, and he was absolutely incompetent," Geraldo said. "They never put together a reasonable bill that would satisfy the GOP, he lost his own allies and now he’s blaming the president."

"The president is absolutely right to be impatient and to have it up to here with Mitch McConnell," Geraldo added. "To say that the president of the United States was naive or inexperienced and that was what the problem was, to me that goes beyond the pale. You stabbed the boss in the back."
