Tucker Carlson criticized President Trump for his repeated attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Carlson said Trump is continuing a "protracted rhetorical assault" on Sessions, who he said is the one cabinet member that wholly believes in "Trumpism."

He said Trump is correct to find the Russian collusion probe frustrating, but noted he should not be blaming Sessions for that.

"Jeff Sessions is doing what he was hired to do," Carlson said, noting how the Department of Justice is cracking down on sanctuary cities and illegal immigration.

"In an administration where many appointees act like they have no idea what their boss ran on... Jeff Sessions stayed true to the ideas that got Trump elected," he said.

He called the current relationship between the two men a "weird and ominous moment," and said Trump is trying to force out his strongest White House ally.
