Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan (D) said the Democrats are still the party that wants to grow the economy and create high-paying jobs.

Ryan said Trump's speech in his home state Tuesday evening was "campaign speech for sure."

"[It was] not a lot of him talking about what he's done," Ryan said.

"He hasn't delivered in the first six months," he said.

Ryan said that Democrats have been talking about how to make "investments in the economy" and "growing the economy."

"We're not a party that's hostile to business," he said.

Tucker Carlson challenged Ryan to again challenge Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for her leadership position.

"I really don't have any interest in doing that - I did it," he said.

He said there are a crop of newer Democrats who may soon take over for the party elders, naming Reps. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and Seth Moulton (D-Mass.).

He called the party's recent "Better Deal" roll-out - which Jeffries spoke at - a "step in the right direction."
